HER Africa’s story
HER Africa timeline ⏱
-
2004
Lookman left Nigeria in search of opportunity. Upon leaving he promised himself that he would always be dedicated to helping his people and give back to the community, as he too knew what the daily struggle was like.
-
2015
Lookman worked for a charity organisation in Australia, collecting donations of used goods and taking them back to the depot for sorting. This sparked an idea for Lookman to create change, as he knew how well received these items would be in the community back home.

2019
Lookman couldn’t stop thinking about his idea and how to make it work. Rather than merely sitting around and talking about the problem, three great minds sprung straight into action. They were all touched deeply by the extent of needs in Nigeria and agreed to take the next step in helping people directly and not just from a distance. From this moment they decided to start building a community of like-minded people to contribute to the greater purpose of helping women, children and families in Nigeria. This is the year HER Africa officially started as a non for profit organisation!
